1. Nature of the Service

ColdStorageScore is a static, questionnaire‑based web application that helps you evaluate the security of your self‑custody setup for Bitcoin and similar assets. The Service is provided for general educational and informational purposes only.

We do not operate a wallet, manage funds on your behalf, or provide any custodial services. We do not connect to the blockchain or request access to your wallets, seed phrases, or private keys.

If you purchase a Pro Security Report, you will be able to choose how you receive it: either by downloading it directly from the site without providing an email address, or by having it sent to you by email. Choosing the email option is voluntary and is used only to deliver the report and related transactional messages.

2. No financial, legal, or tax advice

Nothing on ColdStorageScore constitutes financial, investment, legal, tax, or other professional advice. Any scores, risk categories, or recommendations are opinionated assessments based on generic security practices and the limited information you choose to provide.

You are solely responsible for your own decisions, including how you hold, secure, or dispose of any digital assets. Always do your own research and consider speaking with qualified professionals before making decisions about significant holdings.

3. No guarantee of accuracy or outcomes

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We make no representations or warranties (express or implied) about the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or reliability of any scores, explanations, or recommendations.

A “Good” or “Excellent” score does not guarantee that your setup is safe, and a “Critical” or “Needs Improvement” score does not guarantee that loss will occur. Security is dynamic and depends on many factors outside our control.

4. Your responsibilities

You understand and agree that:

• You are solely responsible for keeping your seed phrases, private keys, passphrases, backups, and devices secure.
• You must never enter your seed phrase or private keys into this or any other website or share them with any person claiming to be associated with ColdStorageScore.
• You are solely responsible for implementing, modifying, or ignoring any suggestions presented by the Service.

5. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ColdStorageScore and its creators, contributors, partners, and service providers will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages of any kind, including without limitation:

• loss of funds or digital assets;
• loss of private keys, seed phrases, or backups;
• unauthorized access to wallets or accounts;
• data loss, business interruption, or loss of profits;
• any personal, financial, or reputational damage arising out of or relating to your use of, inability to use, or reliance on the Service.

This limitation applies whether the alleged liability is based on contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or any other legal theory, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damage.

6. No warranty

We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non‑infringement, or that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error‑free.

We do not warrant that any vulnerabilities or misconfigurations in your setup will be detected by the questionnaire, or that following the recommendations will prevent loss or theft.

7. Data handling and privacy

ColdStorageScore is built as a static application with no traditional user database. The core test operates primarily in your browser. We do not request or store your seed phrase or private keys.

If you choose to provide an email address (for example, for newsletters or to receive a Pro Security Report), it will be processed only for that purpose, often via third‑party providers (such as email or payment processors). For paid reports, your questionnaire answers and score may be processed temporarily on serverless infrastructure to generate and deliver your report; they are not stored in a long‑term customer database.

Our Privacy Policy explains in more detail what limited information we collect and how it is handled. By using the Service, you also agree to the Privacy Policy.

8. Third‑party links, affiliates, and services

The Service may include references or links to third‑party products, websites, or services (for example, hardware wallets, backup tools, digital educational products, exchanges, payment processors, or newsletter platforms). These references are provided for convenience and educational purposes only.

Some of these links may be affiliate or referral links. This means we may receive a small commission if you choose to purchase a product or service through those links. Any such relationships do not change the fact that you are solely responsible for evaluating whether a product or service is appropriate for your needs.

We do not control and are not responsible for the content, security, policies, or practices of any third‑party services. Your use of those services is at your own risk and subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

9. Eligibility and acceptable use

You may use the Service only if you have the legal capacity to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction. You agree not to misuse the Service, attempt to bypass security measures, or use it in any way that violates applicable law.

We may update the Service or these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
